Scholarships

Canadian Western Agribition offers 3 different scholarships to provide financial support and incentive to students in order to pursue post secondary and graduate education.

Canadian Western Agribition Scholarship

The Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) Scholarship program is intended to provide financial support and incentive to young people in order to pursue post-secondary and graduate education. The funding for the scholarship program is derived from a variety of CWA activities, as well as from recognized outside contributions. The number of scholarships awarded in any year is dependent upon the financial resources available to the program, and the number of qualified applications submitted.

Conditions:

  1. Applicants must have participated in CWA as an exhibitor. Eligible exhibitor activites include all livestock classes, 4-H classes, and active trade exhibit participation.
  2. The dollar value of each scholarship will be $2,500.
  3. The applicant may be a Grade 12 student, post-secondary, or graduate student.
  4. Current CWA Board members and staff as well as their siblings, children, and grandchildren are not eligible for the CWA Scholarship.
  5. The scholarship shall be used at a recognized post-secondary and graduate educational institution.
  6. No applicant is eligible for more than two CWA scholarship awards in his/her academic career.
  7. Deadline for application is October 1, 2017.
  8. Successful scholarship candidates will be contacted directly by CWA by the end of November 15.
  9. There is no age limit for the applicants.
  10. Upon selection being made by CWA, $2,500 will be awarded upon proof of academic standing at the end of the first semester. This payment will be disbursed to the applicant's educational institution.

Barry Andrew Family Scholarship

The Barry Andrew Family Scholarship program is intended to provide financial support and incentive to a student registered in an Agriculture program in order pursue post-secondary and graduate education. The funding for the scholarship program was bequeathed by the late Barry Andrew. One scholarship will be awarded each year if qualified applicants are submitted. The scholarship may not be awarded every year.

Conditions:

  1. Applicants must have participated in CWA as an exhibitor. Eligible exhibitor activities include all livestock classes, 4-H classes, and active trade exhibit participation.
  2. Students must be enrolled in an Agriculture related program in a post-secondary educational institution.
  3. The dollar value of each scholarship will be $1,500.
  4. The applicant must be applying for a scholarship for their second or subsequent year in a program of at least two years duration.
  5. The scholarship shall be used at a recognized post-secondary and graduate educational institution.
  6. No applicant is eligible for more than one Barry Andrew Family Scholarship in his/her academic career.
  7. Deadline for applications is October 1, 2017.
  8. Successful scholarship candidates will be contacted directly by CWA by the end of November 15.
  9. There is no age limit for the applicants.
  10. Upon selection being made by CWA, $1,500 will be awarded upon proof of academic standing at the end of the first semester. The payment will be disbursed to the applicant's educational institution.

William M Farley Memorial Scholarship

The William M Farley Memorial Scholarship program is intended to provide financial support and incentive to a student in order to pursue post-secondary and graduate education. The funding for the scholarship program was donated by Lillie R Farley. One scholarship will be awarded each year if qualified applicants are submitted. The scholarship may not be awarded every year.

Conditions:

  1. Applicants must have participated in CWA as an exhibitor or participant themselves or with their family. Eligible exhibitor activities include all livestock classes, 4-H classes, and active trade exhibit participation. Students are also eligible if they have been volunteers for the show or if their parents have been volunteers.
  2. Students must be enrolled in any academic program in a post-secondary educational institution.
  3. The dollar value of each scholarship will be $1,500.
  4. The applicant must be applying for a scholarship for their second or subsequent year in a program of at least two years duration.
  5. The scholarship shall be used at a recognized post-secondary and graduate educational institution.
  6. No applicant is eligible for more than one William M Farley Memorial Scholarship in his/her academic career.
  7. Application deadline is October 1, 2017.
  8. Successful scholarship candidates will be contacted directly by CWA by November 1.
